In this piece, the horse is heavily cropped out. My intention with this decision was to share the expression with the carriage of a horse head and the look in their eye. I wanted to make a piece that did not rely on a majority of the horse's body language to get across an emotion. The intended emotion for this piece is a sense of calm. I made this with charcoal so I could emphasize the highlights and shine in the horse's coat furthering the look that this horse is well cared for in its environment.
